In the States, it is hard to find a locale other than San Francisco that loves kids so much. The Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families maintains a webpage featuring information on family fun @http://www.sfkids.org/. In addition to the events listed there, you can also check out http://redtri.com/events/san-francisco/ for a monthly posting of more fun. Our favorite summer events are the Yerba Buena children’s hands-on program, the drop in family workshop at Randall Museum, and the Golden Gate Solstice Celebration.

When the kids are tired of museums and tours take them to the Yerba Buena Spring-Summer planting time for children. Make sure the kids wear play clothes, as they will craft, plant, explore, collect bugs, and immerse themselves in to the botanical world of San Francisco. The event is free and takes place every Sunday (from 12:30-2:30) until the third week of July. http://yerbabuenagardens.com/event/childrens-learning-garden-public-session-2/2014-03-09/

For six dollars apiece, drop in at Randall Museum on Saturday morning at 10:15 for family ceramic time. Create a memento from your family trip to the Bay City. After you create your masterpiece, view the exhibits. Check the website for display calendars. http://www.voiceplaces.com/san-francisco-bay-area/drop-in-family-ceramics-workshop-9247-e

Golden Gate Park has a running series of unique events. The park is huge and daily has at least a dozen on-going attractions. This summer attend the June 21 Summer Solstice celebration. You will find food, games, artists, and a picnic like atmosphere. Before or after the festival, make sure to check out the park buffalo next to Spreckles Lake and ride the famous Golden Gate carousel. http://www.golden-gate-park.com/
