Los Angeles, AKA the City of Angels, is awash with great things to do and see for people of all ages.  Whilst many people think that a stay in the exciting city will be pretty pricey, most are surprised to learn that there are things/activities to do with the Kids for free in Los Angeles too, helping you to spread the cost of your trip and make your finances a bit more manageable.

Here are some great free things to do in Los Angeles with the Kids:

Hollywood Sign

The iconic Hollywood Sign can be seen up in the hills from quite some distance.  But why don’t you get even closer and enjoy a great family hike up to right in front of the sign for the best pictures for your family photo album?  There are several routes up to the sign.

Mural Mile

Take a stroll along this part of the city and you can all admire some interesting and striking art work.  The walls are covered in bright pictures and there are sure to be some that really appeal to your children’s imagination and catch their eye.  You’ll find the so-named Mural Mile within the Pacoima neighbourhood.  There are several other spots around the city too where yu can enjoy some beautiful and free public art.

Grand Central Market

Even though you will probably be tempted to buy some of the many fantastic treats, a wander around the interesting and lively market won’t cost a single cent unless you want it to.  You and your children can see a wide array of goods for sale and soak up the character and atmosphere of this beloved local marketplace.

Echo Park Lake

Set within a pretty park, the lake is a nice place to enjoy the views and have a delicious home-made picnic.  Get some fresh air as you dine al fresco and let the kids run and play alongside the water.

Beaches

Head to some of LA’s lovely public beaches for a fabulous family day out.  With a stretching sandy coastline there are certainly plenty of beaches to choose between, each one offering a different character and vibe.  Sunbathe, make sandcastles, play, swim, and have a go at surfing … there are so many different ways to enjoy the beaches in the warm sunshine!  There are also lots of nice places to enjoy scenic coastal walk, a popular evening activity after the temperature has cooled off a bit.

Korean Friendship Bell

Next to the seaside, the Korean Friendship Bell lets you see a little bit of a different culture.  An interesting attraction, it is a nice place to get some great pictures.  Housed within a small colourful pagoda, you’ll find the bell in San Pedro.

Go to the Silver Lake neighbourhood in the evening and see this interesting tree illuminated in all its glory.  A popular local attraction, it is sure to make the kids’ eyes light right up!

Make sure that you don’t miss the free or discounted admission periods at many of the museums to cut costs even further.  You could also look into the different money saving passes that are available and check ticket prices online, as a lot of places offer discounts for online booking.  Los Angeles needn’t be as expensive as you think! who said there are no free Stuff to do with the Kids in Los Angeles
